Anna Catherine Clements Moore, affectionately known as “Ma” of Jacksonville, North Carolina passed away peacefully in her sleep on the night of March 27, 2026 at the age of 90.
Born on February 19, 1936, “Anna Kay” was raised in the Plant City and Tampa areas of Florida. She earned her master’s degree in education from the University of Tampa, yet she never stopped learning. She was known for her patience, engaging lessons, and an innate ability to foster a love for discovery in her students. For over 30 years, she touched countless lives in the classrooms of Hillsborough County, Florida and Brazoria County, Texas.
Outside of work, Anna found joy in playing the piano, gardening, and her nightly phone calls with her beloved daughter, Bethy. She will be especially remembered for nurturing the "sons of many mothers"—the Recon Marines of Camp Lejeune, where her son Ed honorably retired from 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company. To these men far from home, she was simply “Ma”. She fed them when they were famished, comforted them in times of thirst, cheered for them when they triumphed and wept for them when they fell.
She is survived by her two children, Edwin Ernest Dristle II (Stacy), Elizabeth Kay Scally; two Stepchildren, Ronald Lee Dristle Jr., Carolyn H. Dristle; two Grandchildren, Christina Lee Dristle, Ezekiel Kane Dristle; one Great-Grandchild, Margot Evelyn Jones — All who loved and cherished the ground she walked on.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gaston Clements; mother, Eddy Clements and of course, the love of her life, Ronald Lee Dristle Sr.
We will be forever grateful for the care, love and compassion shown by our brother Steve Stutts and the 3HC in-home care / hospice team.
In honor of Ma’s considerable courage, grit, tenacity, and kind, generous heart, the family requests that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, supporting their mission to provide mortgage-free homes to veterans and first responders.
Donations can be made online at www.t2t.org.
Ma, you will be forever missed, and we know you’ll find your treasured Autumn Leaves on your journey through the clouds to Heaven.
