Donald Lynn Wood

September 23, 1954 — September 25, 2024

Swansboro

Donald Lynn Wood, 70, of Swansboro, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at his home.

Born on September 23, 1954, Donald, the beloved husband of Beverly Wood for 33 years, a pairing that exemplified devotion and partnership.

Donald’s life was marked by his service in the Navy Surf Riders, a commitment that he carried with pride throughout his years. His military background instilled in him a strong sense of duty and camaraderie, qualities that he embodied in his personal life as well.

Donald found great joy in playing the guitar, a passion that resonated with those fortunate enough to hear him play.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Wood; his daughter, Jennifer Widner, of Swansboro; his son, Tony and Kendra Widner of Myrtle Beach; and his son, Gabriel and Penny Wood of West Virginia. Donald was a proud grandfather to Jesse Hoalcraft, Josh Widner, Jacob Widner, Jake Widner, Max Widner, Dru Widner, Elijah Wood, and Gretchen Wood, whose lives he deeply enriched with his love and wisdom.

Donald is also remembered by his siblings: Ronald Wood, Karen McFadden, and Teresa Mills, who will hold his memory close to their hearts. He joins his parents, William and Anemone Wood, in eternal rest, along with his late grandson, Justin Lestingi, and his brother, Richard Wood.

Donald Wood didn't want people to label him for his sickness. He wanted to be remembered by people, that he was simply a Good man.

As we remember Donald Lynn Wood, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting impact on all who knew him. His presence will be sorely missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
