Ernest Henry "Skip" Sietmann, 80, of Stella, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026.

Born on February 13, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, Skip lived a life devoted to his family, friends, and country.

Skip honorably served in the United States Army as a Specialist E-4 during the Vietnam War. He enlisted on June 29, 1965, and completed his service on June 21, 1968. His time in the Army fostered lifelong bonds with his fellow servicemen and instilled in him a deep respect for camaraderie, sacrifice, and duty.

A man of many talents and passions, Skip found great joy in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who cherished time spent in nature. His woodworking skills were admired by those who knew him, as he crafted beautiful pieces that reflected his creativity and meticulous attention to detail.

Skip was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Sietmann, and his brothers, John Sietmann and Roger Baruth.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Kimberly Sietmann; his stepson, Barry Martin; his grandson, Hunter Meeks; his sister, Earlette Mays Gibson; and his brother, James "Jim" Sietmann.

Family was the cornerstone of Skip's life, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness. Those who knew him remember a hardworking, loyal man with a generous spirit. He treasured his relationships with family and friends, as well as the enduring bonds he shared with his fellow veterans.

Skip's legacy lives on through the love he gave, the friendships he nurtured, and the example of dedication, integrity, and service he set for those who knew him.

A memorial service to celebrate Skip's life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at 3208 Watkins Rd., Monroe, NC 28110. Family and friends are invited to attend as they gather to honor and remember his life.

May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him and inspire others to live with the same devotion to family, friendship, and country that he exemplified throughout his life.
