Lucian Libby

It is with great heartbreak we announce the peaceful passing of Lucian Van Buren Libby II on September 23rd, 2026 at the age of 66. Born on May 30th, 1960, Lucian lived a life of creation, peace and connection.

Lucian was always a very kind and loving man. It didn't matter if you just met him, as long as he was around you were always wanted and welcome. He was a devoted father, brother and son. Growing up Lucian moved all around Hawaii, Maine and North Carolina as his father Albert Libby was in the United States Marine Corps. Lucian was an avid church goer after being introduced to the church around 11 years old. He was shown a new sense of community, and he absolutely fell in love.

Upon graduating high school, Lucian went on a mission with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints to spread the gospel to the people of Boise Idaho. Lucian was doing what he did best: touching hearts and changing lives.When he came home, he noticed a broken bottle along the sidewalk.Seeing the beautiful colors reflecting in the light and the shape of the glass, he thought to himself “Well, what if I do that?” That very day in 1982, he got a blowtorch and glass bottles. Through lots of trial and error, he realized just how passionate he was about it, and good, so he started LVBL glass. And that's exactly what it was. LOVABLE glass. Lucian loved what he did so much he created a youtube channel to share that connection with a wider community, using it to teach his viewers and children about this hobby he made a lifestyle. Even in poor health and silent battles, Lucian never stopped.sharing his work. One day, a young girl was spotted inside McDonalds with her nurse mother, and a glass turtle hanging around her neck. This just goes to show that even in death his love still goes on, and his legacy will be remembered.

Lucian was preceded in death by his father Albert Libby, and survived by his children, Brian(Madison) Libby, Amber Libby, step children Ethan Waycott, Timothy Waycott and his former spouse, Tammi Libby. Grandchild, Kinsley Owens Libby; mother, Barbra Anne Spano; siblings; Margaret Solarzano, Walter Libby, Edith Holt, Saula Finau, Allen Finau.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Lucian on September 30th, 2026 at 12pm. He will be remembered at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints, located at 3606 Country Club Road Morehead City, NC.
