Lynn Allen Gustafson

Lynn "Gus" Allen Gustafson, 78, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026. He was born to the late Arnold and Olga Gustafson on February 13, 1948, in Viborg, South Dakota.

He grew up in Centerville, SD, where he excelled as an athlete and also became an Eagle Scout. He was a graduate of South Dakota State University where he received his Physical Education Degree. Gus moved to North Carolina in 1976. He was an active member of the Rotary where he contributed greatly to his community. He built a very successful career in insurance where he retired after 25+ years. Throughout his life and also retirement, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing.

Gus is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Gustafson; stepsons, Jay and Michael Johnson; six step granddaughters; and his brother, Lee "Skip" Gustafson, all of whom will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Olga Gustafson, and his sister Jan Gustafson Dickens.

In accordance to Gus' wishes, the family has chosen cremation. A private celebration of life will be held in his honor at a later date.
