William Ronald "Ronnie" Gillikin Sr., a cherished member of the Bettie and Morehead City communities, passed away on July 3, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on March 20, 1945, in Bettie, North Carolina, Ronnie was a man whose generous spirit and lively nature left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.

Ronnie proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, a period in his life that instilled the values of discipline and service. After his military career, he channeled his leadership and entrepreneurial spirit into founding the RG Building Corporation, where he was well-respected for his passionate drive and work ethic. Ronnie's professional achievements were a testament to his dedication and hard work, and he was known for treating his employees and colleagues with fairness and respect.

A man of many interests, Ronnie found joy in a well-cast line and playing cards. He also LOVED football. His happiest days were spent in the company of his two sons, Billy Gillikin Jr., and Michael. He was a source of support and love for his daughter-in-law, Carrie, and he cherished every moment he got to spend with his granddaughters, Piper, Gianna, and Lana-Rose. His granddaughters always brought a smile to his face, his favorite memories with them were found in simplicity; whether that be walking on the dock and feeding the birds or taking the girls to Cox’s Family Restaurant for dinner.

Those who knew Ronnie will remember him as a man who lived his life with gusto; his generosity knew no bounds. He was a spirited soul who approached every day with a sense of drive.

William Ronald "Ronnie" Gillikin Sr. will be deeply missed, but his lessons of love, generosity, and joy will remain with his family always. He was a beacon of light in the lives of many, and his legacy will be cherished by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his presence. Rest in peace, Ronnie, and know that your spirit continues to guide us.

He is survived by his loving partner, Rita Eubanks, who stood by his side as a partner and confidante. His legacy lives on through his son, Michael Gillikin, his daughter-in-law, Carrie Lynch-Gillikin, and his adored granddaughters, Piper, Gianna, and Lana-Rose Gillikin. Ronnie also leaves behind his brothers: Jerry and his wife Judy along with Terry Gillikin and Chris Smith. Niece Tanya and husband Frank, niece Erin and niece Paige with husband Matt and daughter Morgan. Ronnie is preceded in death by his son, William Ronald "Billy" Gillikin Jr., with whom he is now joyfully reunited and his mother Inez Powell and father William F. Gillikin.
