Wilson Norton Jr.

Wilson "Bill" Norton Jr., 74, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026. Born on November 10, 1951, in Cherry Point, North Carolina, Bill embraced a life deeply connected to his family, friends, and the coastal lifestyle he cherished.

Bill was the son of the late Wilson Norton Sr. of Newport and Mary Sanders of Beaufort. He was also predeceased by his siblings John C. Norton of Rocky Mount, Karen Lee Walker of El Paso, Texas, and Louis C. Norton of Beaufort. He is survived by his beloved son, Shaun Michael Norton; his granddaughter Grace Ann Louise Norton of Elizabeth City; and his three sisters: Elizabeth Lindsley of Florida, April Lynn Burkard of Beaufort, and Laurie Knighten of New Bern. Bill also leaves behind nieces Shannon Nelson and Corie Nunn of Newport; Carissa Payne, Tiffany Wardlow, and Chelsea Hooks of Florida; nephews Marshall Langley and Patrick Langley of California; Trae Langley of Texas; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews who will fondly remember him.

Bill’s greatest joy in life was his son Shaun Michael, who held a special place in his heart. Bill was known to be loyal, honest, and loving. Bill brought warmth and laughter to those around him. Later on in life Bill lived with and helped care for both of his aging parents. He had a gentle and nurturing side that those closest to him were able to witness.

The memories Bill loved to share were of his younger years spending time at Atlantic Beach Circle with his best friend Bill Lowry, where he spent his days surfing, playing volleyball on the beach, and his nights listening to live music and shooting pool with friends. .

A celebration of Bill's life will be planned at a later date to honor his legacy along the shores he loved so dearly.
